Peugeot 107 automatic transmission problem

My 2012 Peugeot 107 diesel has a problem with the automatic transmission's parking position. The engine fails to start sometimes, and the check engine light comes on. The gearbox slips sometimes too. Diagnostics say it could be a defective control unit. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. Same symptoms - wouldn't start sometimes, engine light on, and the transmission was acting weird. Did you check the transmission fluid level? Might be worth a look before diving into the control unit.

Thanks for the reply. What happened with your Renault Megane issue? Was the defective control unit the cause, and how did you fix it?

The garage guys suspected the control unit on my Megane straight away. It was throwing all sorts of errors. I'm no expert, but it does sound like you might have the same problem. Is it worth messing about? I'd get it to a workshop and get it diagnosed.

Thanks for the help. After talking to a technician, it looks like the control unit is defective and needs to be replaced. The repair will be about 1000€.
