Peugeot 107 check engine light

Check engine light on my 2007 Peugeot 107 gasoline engine, with increased fuel consumption. Diagnostics suggest a fault in the inlet VANOS. At 208263 km, could this be oil sludge or timing chain wear?

Interesting. I own a Peugeot 107 and had similar symptoms: check engine light and increased fuel consumption. Any performance issues, like lack of power at low RPMs? A camshaft solenoid valve defect or power supply issue could be the cause. Did you check the inlet camshaft?

Yes, slight power decrease when accelerating. Could you explain more about the camshaft solenoid valves? Did you fix it yourself, or need help? How much did the repair cost?

My issue was the camshaft solenoid valves. I tried to diagnose it myself but got professional help. Due to the complexity and tools needed, take your 107 to a workshop for inspection and repair. It cost me around 250€.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll book a mechanic to check the camshaft solenoid valves. Your help is appreciated. I'll post what the solution is.
