Peugeot 107 Damping Adjustment Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Peugeot 107 with a diesel engine is experiencing a damping adjustment fault, indicated by a warning light and a bumpy ride. The issue is likely due to electrical problems, such as loose or corroded connections to the suspension components. It is suggested to check the cable and plug connections near the shock absorbers or in the wheel arch area. If unsure, consulting a mechanic is recommended to diagnose and clear the error memory after resolving the issue.

Thanks! I haven't checked the cable or plug connections yet; I wouldn't know where to begin. Is it something I can easily access myself, or would I need to lift the car or remove parts? Where should I be looking for this module; is it near the shock absorbers?

Accessing those connections can be tricky. You'll need to lift the car safely using jack stands. The damping control module location varies, but a good starting point is near the shock absorbers or in the wheel arch area. If you're not comfortable, and given the error codes and symptoms, it's probably wise to have a mechanic take a look. This could cause further issues if not diagnosed correctly. If that turns out to be the cause, you'll need to get the error memory cleared after resolving the electrical problem.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I'll look at the connections if I can find them, but it’s best to take it to a workshop. I've booked it in; they quoted 95€ for diagnostics and repair. The mechanic found a defective plug connection on the component, just as suspected.

That sounds like it could be a few things, but damping adjustment issues on those models often trace back to electrical gremlins. Before diving into anything major, have you looked at the cable and plug connections to the suspension components? A loose or corroded connection can cause havoc, like a faulty switch in a circuit. Do you know where the damping control module is located on your car?
