Thanks for the quick reply! I have noticed a slightly rough idle, now that you mention it. And I'm a bit worried about the emissions; I'm due for a vehicle inspection soon. How did you confirm it was the EGR valve? Did you try cleaning it, or did you just replace it?

No problem at all. Given the rough idle and emission concerns, it does strengthen the EGR valve issue suspicion. In my situation, it was diagnosed by a local workshop but from all the symptoms provided and those you have been experiencing it certainly points to the same thing. Cleaning it might offer a temporary solution, but ultimately, replacement is often the most reliable fix. I'd strongly advise getting it checked out by a professional. It will save you a lot of hassle!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local workshop, and you were spot on – it was the EGR valve. They replaced it, and everything's running smoothly now. Cost me 355€, but at least it's fixed. The hissing noise is gone, the check engine light is off, and the power is back. Really appreciate the help!

Hi there, I had almost exactly the same symptoms with my 107! Reduced engine power, check engine light, smoke, the lot. In my case, it was indeed the EGR valve. Have you noticed any rough idling or any difference in the vehicle emissions? It might be worth checking the catalytic converter too, just in case, but the EGR valve does sound like the primary suspect, given the hissing noise.
