Peugeot 107 Electronic Parking Brake Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Peugeot 107 diesel experienced a complete failure of the electronic parking brake, with a non-functional handbrake, error memory fault, and warning light. The issue was suspected to be related to the electric motor in the brake calliper, especially after a brief whirring sound was noted weeks prior. The problem was confirmed to be the electric motor, which required professional replacement to resolve the issue.

Grinding noises? Now that you mention it, I think I did hear a kind of whirring sound a few weeks back. But it was so brief, I didn't really pay attention. Could that be related? I'm worried about the repair costs.

That whirring sound definitely points towards the electric motor in the calliper. Sadly, these things often fail without much warning. Given the error codes and symptoms, I'd advise getting it checked by a professional. What do they say about the repair costs?

Thanks for the insight! It was indeed the electric motor in the brake calliper. Replacement cost me 505€. At least it's sorted now.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Renault Megane. Electronic parking brakes are a pain, aren't they? Same symptoms – warning light, error code, and a useless parking brake. Did you notice any grinding noises before it failed?
