Peugeot 107 Jerking Acceleration

Alright Peugeot gurus, I'm tearing my hair out here! My 2012 Peugeot 107, diesel engine, is giving me fits. It's done 227588 km. I'm getting awful jerking when accelerating, the check engine light is on, and it's throwing an error code. I've noticed a serious drop in power and sometimes it even stalls at idle. The engine runs rough and smells strongly of exhaust. I'm suspecting a manifold pressure issue. Could a defective intake manifold be the culprit? Maybe a scorch issue causing a leak? I'm losing sleep over this!

Sounds rough! I had something similar with my Peugeot 107, though it was a while back. Jerking, loss of power… sounds like a gasket leak to me. Check your manifold pressure readings if you can. If they're all over the place, that could be it. I would check the intake manifold. Is the check engine light on?

Thanks for the quick reply! The check engine light is indeed on. You mentioned gasket leak and manifold pressure readings 'all over the place'. Could you elaborate? What sort of readings should I be looking for, and where exactly was the leak in your case? Any specific areas of the manifold prone to failure on these things?

Right, with the check engine light on, it strengthens the case for an intake manifold issue. My mechanic mentioned something about scorching around the manifold. It was causing a vacuum leak, messing with the air-fuel mixture. Honestly, I didn't dive too deep into the readings myself – I took it straight to the workshop. They diagnosed it pretty quickly. Save yourself the headache and get it checked out by a pro. Could save you some serious coin in the long run!

Cheers! Appreciate the insight. Sounds like I'm heading to the workshop then. Just got the diagnosis back – you were spot on! It's a defective intake manifold, scorching and all. Repair cost? A hefty 1180€! Ouch! But at least I know what's wrong. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
