Peugeot 107 Overheating

I own a 2012 Peugeot 107 with a gasoline engine. I am observing overheating of the engine and the engine takes considerably longer to reach operating temperature. After some research, a defective map thermostat seems like the likely cause. Could this be a thermostat cooling circuit motor defective?

That sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my 2016 Opel Corsa – overheating and slow warm-up. In my case, it was indeed the thermostat. Is your cooling fan running constantly, even when the engine is cold? It might also be worth checking the temperature sensor readings, but the thermostat housing itself is a common culprit.

Thank you for your insights. Regarding the cooling fan, I will verify if it is running constantly. Where is the temperature sensor located, and how can I check its readings?

On my Corsa, the temp sensor was near the thermostat housing, but yours may differ. You can check its value by using an OBD2 scanner. That being said, based on your symptoms, I’d bet on the map thermostat; eventually, you need a mechanic to check it correctly. I would recommend that you take your car to the repair shop to be safe.

Understood. Thank you for sharing your experience. I took the car to the workshop and they have confirmed that the map thermostat was indeed defective. The final repair cost amounts to 350€. I appreciate your help.
