Peugeot 107 power loss

Hey, I'm having a nightmare with my 2006 Peugeot 107, gasoline engine. The check engine light is on and the car feels like it's lost half its power! It's got 66754 km on the clock. I'm also getting a whistling noise, and a loud hissing when accelerating. Sometimes it even stalls at idle, and I'm sure the fuel consumption has gone up. Could it be the boost pressure actuator? I've heard a defective electrical bypass valve can cause these issues. Anyone else had similar problems?

Summary of the thread

A 2006 Peugeot 107 is experiencing power loss, a check engine light, increased fuel consumption, and unusual noises like whistling and hissing. These symptoms suggest potential issues with the boost pressure actuator or a defective electrical bypass valve. Possible causes include boost leaks, a faulty turbo wastegate, or a malfunctioning pressure sensor. The recommended solution is to have a professional diagnose and repair the issue, likely involving the turbo actuator, to avoid further complications.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my 107. Whistling, hissing, power loss...it was like driving a lawnmower uphill! Have you checked for any obvious boost leaks? It could also be the turbo wastegate or the actuator valve itself. Is the pressure sensor working properly?

Boost leaks, huh? I haven't specifically checked for those. I'm not really sure where to start, to be honest. And how would I know if the pressure sensor is faulty? Is there a way to test it without special equipment?

Checking for boost leaks can be tricky without the right tools. It might be worth a trip to a workshop. When mine was doing that, it turned out to be the turbo actuator. You could try visually inspecting the hoses for cracks, but honestly, you're probably better off letting a professional diagnose it properly. It will save you a lot of time and frustration in the long run.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I think you're right; I'll take it to a workshop and get them to have a look. Sounds like it's probably the actuator valve like you said. Just got the bill: 250€ for the repair. Ouch!
