Peugeot 107 Radiator Fan Issue

I'm having a spot of bother with the Peugeot 107, 2012 diesel I use for pottering around. It's got 158262 km on the clock and the radiator fan seems to be on the fritz. Engine's overheating, and the check engine light's decided to join the party. Could a dodgy speed sensor be the culprit?

Summary of the thread

A Peugeot 107 owner is experiencing radiator fan issues, leading to engine overheating and a check engine light. The problem is suspected to be caused by a faulty speed sensor. After consulting with others and taking the car to a workshop, the speed sensor is confirmed as the issue and is replaced, resolving the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! Had a similar drama with my old Renault Clio. Was your radiator fan making any weird noises beforehand? Any issues with the fan blades?

Weird noises? Now that you mention it, there was a bit of a whine, nothing major. And no visible damage to the blades. So, are you thinking it might be the thermal switch then?

Could be the switch, but honestly, chasing electrical gremlins can be a nightmare. If you're not 100% sure, maybe get a workshop to have a look before you start throwing parts at it. Might save you some cash in the long run.

Cheers, that's solid advice. Bit the bullet and took it in. Turns out you were spot on - workshop confirmed it was the speed sensor. 250€ lighter, but at least it's sorted now!
