Peugeot 108 ABS and Lateral Acceleration Sensor Fault

Blast! My 2016 Peugeot 108, gasoline engine, is throwing a hissy fit. The ABS light is on, the ABS system has conked out, and the diagnostic scan says it's the lateral acceleration sensor. Could a defective control unit be the culprit here?

A lateral acceleration sensor fault on a 2016 Peugeot 108? That's unfortunate, but not entirely uncommon. Before condemning the control unit outright, have you checked the sensor's wiring harness and connections? A loose or corroded connection can mimic a sensor failure. Also, what diagnostic trouble code (DTC) are you seeing? Is it related to signal plausibility, open circuit, or short to ground? Knowing the specific DTC will help narrow down the possibilities. Consider yaw rate issues or the steering angle sensor too.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't checked the wiring harness myself, I'll admit I'm not super hands-on. Regarding the DTC, I don't recall the exact code, but I do remember it pointed directly to the lateral acceleration sensor. Should I be looking at specific pins or voltage levels in the harness?

Given that the DTC specifically implicates the lateral acceleration sensor and you're not comfortable probing the wiring harness, it is advisable to take your Peugeot 108 to a competent workshop. They will have the necessary tools and expertise to diagnose the issue correctly. It's most likely the defective control unit. A diagnostic scan should also verify that. From my experience, the repair cost can be around 1000€.

Alright, that confirms my fears. Thanks for the advice! I'll book it into the shop and prepare for the worst. I'll let you know how it goes.
