Peugeot 108 automatic transmission converter fault

Hi, I've got a 2017 Peugeot 108 with a gasoline engine that's giving me some grief. The check engine light and transmission indicator light are both on. It feels like the gearbox slips sometimes, and the shifts aren't clean. I've even heard grinding noises when it shifts. I scanned it and there's an error stored. Anyone else had similar auto transmission issues?

Oh, that sounds rough! I had something kinda similar happen with my 108. The auto transmission was acting weird. What mileage are you at? Could be the converter. A converter is a type of fluid coupling which is used to transfer rotating power from an engine to a rotating driven load. In your case the automatic transmission. Was it expensive to fix?

I'm at 156323 km. You mentioned the converter – was it the lock-up clutch that was the problem? And what do you mean by 'expensive'? Ballpark figure?

Yep, sounds like the torque converter lock-up clutch is defective. If your symptoms are the same, it is very likely that this is the issue. I'd say get it checked by a professional. I got a quote from a workshop with 2120€ for the transmission repair to fix the converter fault. But that was just a quote, I didn't go through with the repair. So, yeah, expensive!

Thanks for the info! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on – the automatic transmission converter was defective. Ended up costing me 2120€ to repair. At least it's running smoothly now.
