Peugeot 108 Overheating Air Flap Fault

It seems to overheat faster than normal, yeah. I wouldn't say I noticed any weird noises, but honestly, I'm not always listening super closely. If the flap motor is broken, what exactly does that do and is it something I could try to fix myself, or am I looking at a garage job?

If it's overheating that quickly, and the diagnostic scan pointed to the air flap, it really does sound like an electromechanism defective issue. That flap controls airflow to help regulate engine temperature. While technically replaceable yourself, it can be tricky to access on some models. Seeing as it affects cooling, and with the engine overheating, I'd strongly advise against driving it much and getting it checked by a workshop. Continuing to drive could cause even more damage.

Okay, thanks. That's what I was afraid of. I'll book it in with a mechanic. They quoted me 590€ for the repair, which stings but better safe than sorry, I guess. Appreciate the advice!

Sounds like the air intake flap motor might be toast. Those things can be a pain. Does the engine overheat quickly, or only after driving for a while? Have you noticed any weird noises coming from the engine bay, especially when you start the car?
