Peugeot 2008 ABS Traction Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Peugeot 2008 is experiencing issues with the ABS light illuminating and traction problems, indicating a potential failure in the ABS system. Initial checks, such as fuses, did not resolve the issue. A suggestion was made to check for error codes using an OBD2 scanner, and a possible cause could be a speed sensor malfunction or a defective control unit. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosed the problem as a defective control unit, requiring repair.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the odometer seems to be working fine. I haven't checked the error codes yet, as I don't have a scanner. If it is a faulty speed sensor, is that a straightforward fix, or could it indicate a bigger problem?

Since the odometer is working, the sensor itself might be okay, but the signal is getting interrupted somehow. Given the ABS and traction issues, plus the warning light, a defective control unit is a strong possibility. Honestly, it's probably best to take it to a workshop for proper diagnostics. They can pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks for the advice! I suspected it might be more than just a sensor issue. I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed it's a defective control unit. The repair is going to cost around 1000€, which is a bummer, but at least I know what the problem is now.

Sounds like a speed sensor malfunction, possibly affecting the ABS and traction control systems. When the ABS light is on, is your odometer still working correctly? Have you tried reading any error codes from the ECM with an OBD2 scanner?
