Peugeot 2008 electrical gremlin

I have a 2019 Peugeot 2008, diesel engine, with about 18290 km. Recently, I've been getting sporadic errors – sometimes a driving mode fault, other times random lights on the dash, mainly affecting the audio/navigation. It's like the system is having a temporary brain fart, sometimes shutting down or just becoming unresponsive. I scanned it with a tool and there's an error stored, but it's not very specific. Has anyone experienced something similar? Driving me nuts!

Sounds like a fun electrical gremlin! Is everything else working normally when this happens? Lights, wipers, etc.? If those systems are also affected, it could point to a bigger problem than just a glitch in the infotainment system. It is like a chain reaction when one component goes haywire.

Thanks for the reply! The lights and wipers seem fine when this happens, it's mostly just the infotainment stuff and sometimes the driving mode selector acts up. Could it really be something like a bad connection somewhere? I'm not super confident poking around with wiring.

It certainly could be a connection issue! The error codes are vague, but the sporadic nature and wide range of affected systems suggest a faulty connection somewhere on the BUS system. Think of it like a loose wire in your home network. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Given your mileage and the symptoms, it's best to have a workshop check it out. They have the right tools to diagnose it properly.

Thanks a bunch, that's really helpful advice. I'll book it into a garage next week. The problem was a defective cable connection of the control unit to the BUS system. Repair cost me 155€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
