Peugeot 2008 electronic parking brake failure
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Peugeot 2008 diesel is experiencing issues with its electronic parking brake, which fails to engage or disengage, accompanied by a warning light and an error code. The problem is likely due to a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected and repaired by a professional workshop, which successfully resolved the issue in this case.

I didn't take note of the code, unfortunately. From your experience, was it a difficult or expensive fix? Was it something that could be resolved relatively easily, or was it a major undertaking?

In my case, with the Insignia, it turned out to be a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. Nothing I could fix myself. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop. They should be able to diagnose the exact cause and give you a proper quote.

Took it to a local garage and you were spot on. The electric motor in the brake calliper was indeed defective. Repair cost me 505€. Appreciate your help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Vauxhall Insignia. Same symptoms – electronic parking brake failure, warning light, error code. Does the error message give you any specific codes or descriptions? That might help narrow down the problem.
