Peugeot 2008 Fuel Pump Issue

I'm having a problem with my 2015 Peugeot 2008, gasoline engine, with 35218 km. It might be a fuel delivery issue. The engine sometimes won't start, and when it does, it stalls at idle. The check engine light is on, it runs rough, and fuel consumption is up. I scanned it and got an error code. I think it could be the fuel pump, but I want to see if anyone else has had this before I do more checks or replace parts.

Sounds frustrating! The symptoms definitely point towards fuel starvation. The stalling, rough running, and increased fuel consumption are classic signs. Before you go ripping out the fuel pump though, which can be a pain, let's think systematically. What's the error code? It could be super helpful in narrowing things down. Also, when you did your visual inspection, did you check the fuel pump relay and its wiring? A faulty relay or a bad connection can mimic a pump failure. A relay is basically an electrically operated switch and they're notorious for going bad. It's a cheap part to replace and easy to check.

Thanks for the suggestions. The error code is P025A, for a fuel pump control circuit issue. I checked the relay for damage and tested it with a multimeter. The wiring looks okay, but I didn't do a continuity test of each wire. Could a wire that's partially bad, maybe with corrosion, cause this even if the relay seems to work?

That P025A code confirms the fuel pump circuit issue, so you're definitely on the right track. And yes, absolutely a corroded or partially broken wire can cause this! A multimeter test for continuity might show 'something' is getting through, but it might not be enough amperage to properly power the pump, especially under load. The increased resistance acts like a dimmer switch. Given everything you've checked, and that you've got that code, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop to properly diagnose the wiring harness and connection to the fuel pump. If you're lucky, it is just that! It will probably be cheaper in the long run than just replacing the pump without actually knowing the root cause.

Thanks for the explanation and confirmation. I'll get the wiring harness and connections checked before replacing anything. The cable or plug connection was indeed defective. The repair cost was 95€.
