Peugeot 2008 Oil Pressure Light and Engine Noise

I have a 2015 Peugeot 2008 (gasoline engine) with about 41,914 km. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up intermittently, and I'm hearing loud mechanical noises from the engine. Oil level seems fine, no obvious leakage. What should I check next? Has anyone experienced this?

I had something similar happen with my 2008. Same symptoms, oil pressure light and engine noise. Did you check the oil pressure sensor? It could be a faulty sensor giving false readings.

Thanks! I haven't checked the oil pressure sensor yet. Where is it located? Can I easily test it myself, or should I go to a professional?

I'm not 100% sure where it's located on yours, but it's usually near the oil filter. Based on the noise, it might not just be the sensor. In my case, it turned out to be a defect in the oil pump. You might want to get it checked out by a workshop. It cost me around 755€.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping it wasn't the oil pump. I'll take it to a shop and have them check it out. Knowing the potential cost helps me prepare. I will let you know what I find.
