So, you think it's a defective map thermostat? That was my first thought as well. Did you check the water pump, or coolant leaks?

Didn't bother checking much else, to be honest. Just took it straight to the workshop. Turned out to be exactly that, map thermostat. Cost me around 350€ if I remember correctly.

Thanks! Appreciate the quick response. I'll get the thermostat replaced and hopefully that'll sort it out. Seems like the most probable cause.

Overheating and slow warm-up sounds familiar. Is it just me or could it be the thermostat housing again? I had similar with my 2008; same symptoms.
