What did you do to resolve it? Did you measure the resistance of the heating element or examine the temperature control module?

I'm not that technical to be honest. I didn't check the resistance or anything like that. I just recognized from your description that it was the exact same deal I had. I brought it straight to the workshop. Saved me a lot of hassle.

After further diagnostics, the seat heating mat was the problem. The repair, including replacement, cost 390€.

Hey! I think I had the same problem with my 2008. The seat wouldn't heat up and it was super annoying in winter. Did you check the thermal sensor or the heating element itself? It could be either of those causing the issue.
