Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the power supply specifically. Where is that located, and is it easy to test? I am not sure how to get to the valve, could you please elaborate a bit?

No worries! Honestly, locating it can be a bit of a pain depending on your engine setup. It's usually near the camshaft, but I wouldn't recommend diving in without the right tools and knowledge. Considering the symptoms and the VANOS error, plus my own experience, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Save yourself the headache and potential for further damage. Better safe than sorry!

You're right, I think it's best to leave it to the pros. Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and they confirmed it was a defect in one of the camshaft solenoid valves. Repair cost 250€. All sorted now!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 2008. Is the engine running rough at all? Mine was throwing a check engine light and drinking fuel like crazy. It turned out to be a faulty camshaft solenoid valve. Have you checked the power supply to the valve?
