Peugeot 2008 VANOS Issue

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2018 Peugeot 2008, gasoline engine. The check engine light keeps popping up, and I've noticed the fuel consumption is way higher than usual. The car has 97205 km on it. I scanned it, and it looks like there's an issue with the inlet VANOS mechanics. Anyone experienced something similar?

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 2008. Is the engine running rough at all? Mine was throwing a check engine light and drinking fuel like crazy. It turned out to be a faulty camshaft solenoid valve. Have you checked the power supply to the valve?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the power supply specifically. Where is that located, and is it easy to test? I am not sure how to get to the valve, could you please elaborate a bit?

No worries! Honestly, locating it can be a bit of a pain depending on your engine setup. It's usually near the camshaft, but I wouldn't recommend diving in without the right tools and knowledge. Considering the symptoms and the VANOS error, plus my own experience, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Save yourself the headache and potential for further damage. Better safe than sorry!

You're right, I think it's best to leave it to the pros. Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and they confirmed it was a defect in one of the camshaft solenoid valves. Repair cost 250€. All sorted now!
