Peugeot 206 ABS Fault

The steering angle sensor hasn't been calibrated recently, and the car hasn't sustained any impacts. I'll inspect the wiring harness. The error typically appears shortly after starting, though sometimes it takes a few minutes. Does this still sound like a defective control unit, or are there other things I should explore? Is there any way to diagnose a faulty control unit?

Based on your description, it sounds increasingly like the control unit. After exhausting all other possibilities, including checking the wiring and sensor connections, I had to concede that the control unit was defective. Your symptoms mirror my experience. Consult a qualified technician to confirm and get a professional opinion. It's difficult to be sure without proper diagnostic tools. The workshop confirmed my guess. Prepare for a potentially significant repair bill, as replacing the control unit can be expensive. It cost me around 1000€.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. Your information has helped me understand the potential scope. I'll consult a qualified technician for a diagnosis and explore repair options. The expense seems inevitable. The workshop confirmed the fault on the lateral acceleration sensor. Thanks again.

I can relate. I own a Peugeot 206 and had a similar issue not long ago: ABS light, system failure, and the error memory pointed to the lateral acceleration sensor. Have you had the steering angle sensor calibrated recently, or has the car sustained any impacts that might have affected the sensor's positioning? Also, check the sensor's wiring harness for damage or corrosion. Does the error appear immediately upon starting, or only after driving?
