Peugeot 206 bumper antenna electrical issue

Alright Peugeot gurus, need some brainpower here. Got a 2013 Peugeot 206 diesel with 162518 km on the clock. I'm facing a weird electrical issue. I'm getting an error stored in the memory related to the bumper antenna. Now, the remote locking/unlocking is acting up, and to top it off, I can't start the engine without physically putting the key in the ignition. I'm suspecting a faulty cable or plug connection somewhere in that antenna circuit. Anyone seen anything like this before?

Sounds familiar! I've got a 206 too, though I can’t remember the exact year. Had similar gremlins with mine a while back – unlocking was a nightmare, and I was convinced someone was messing with the central locking. Did you check the antenna base itself? Is there any corrosion or damage?

Good shout! I gave the base a quick look, but didn't see anything obvious. Was yours visibly corroded, or was it more subtle? And where exactly did you find the problem? Was it the antenna itself, or a connection somewhere along the line?

Honestly, it wasn't glaringly obvious at first. I spent ages fiddling with it. After several attempts the problem was still there, I decided to visit a local workshop. The guys there told me my symptoms were very similar to other cases of bumper antenna gone wrong, and told me to replace it. The defect was confirmed: cable or plug connection of the component was defective

Thanks a bunch for the insight! I bit the bullet and took it to a local mechanic who diagnosed the same issue – defective cable or plug connection to the bumper antenna. They replaced it for 95€ and everything's back to normal now. You were spot on!
