Peugeot 206 Camshaft Sensor Issue

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2011 Peugeot 206, diesel engine. It's got about 103k km on the clock. Lately, it's been starting poorly, sometimes stalls at idle, and the check engine light is on. I suspect a camshaft sensor issue - does that sound right?

That does sound familiar. I had a similar problem with my 206. What makes you think it's the camshaft sensor specifically? Have you checked the crankshaft sensor as well?

Yeah, I did a bit of research and the symptoms seemed to point to the camshaft sensor. Plus, I read something about the encoder wheel on those camshafts being a common failure point. But I haven't checked the crankshaft sensor – is that a common cause too?

Indeed, the defective encoder wheel is a plausible cause for such issues, as it directly impacts ignition timing and engine control. Given the symptoms, and considering the potential for further complications, I would strongly suggest consulting a qualified workshop for a comprehensive diagnosis. Failure to address the issue promptly may result in additional damage.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed the camshaft sensor and its encoder wheel. Cost me 695€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!
