Peugeot 206 cold start issue
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Peugeot 206 with 244,000 km is experiencing poor cold starts and rough engine performance when cold, likely due to a misfire. The issue is suspected to be related to the cold start injector, which provides extra fuel during cold starts. The suggested solution is to have a mechanic inspect and possibly replace the cold start injector, which resolved the problem and restored smooth engine operation.

Yes, exactly! It does feel like a misfire, and it only happens when the engine is cold. What did you do to fix it? Was it difficult?

Sounds very familiar. In my case, it turned out to be the cold start injector. This injector provides extra fuel when the engine is cold to help with starting and smooth running, a defective injector can cause these symptoms. I took it to a workshop to get it sorted. It's not a job I'd recommend tackling yourself unless you're really confident with fuel injection systems.

Thanks a lot for the help! It sounds like that could be the issue. I'll take it to a mechanic and get the cold start injector checked. Turns out it was that injector, repair cost me 515€. Runs smoothly now!

Hi, is the cold start injector different from the 4 injectors? I changed the 4 and I still have the same problem. Thanks.

Yes, the cold start injector is separate from the main fuel injectors and is specifically used to enrich the fuel mixture when the engine is cold. If you've already replaced the main injectors, it might be worth checking the cold start injector or its related components, such as the temperature sensor that controls it. Let me know if you need further assistance or have any questions!

I had something similar with my 206. Does it feel like it's misfiring, like it's not getting enough fuel when you first start it? It could be a fuel delivery problem.
