Peugeot 206 electric steering fault
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Peugeot 206 with a diesel engine is experiencing issues with its electric steering column adjustment, which has stopped functioning and is storing an error. The suspected cause is a faulty cable or plug connection. Suggested solutions include checking fuses, relays, and the wiring harness for damage or corrosion. Cheers for the advice! Fuses and relays... I'll check those. But, if the fuses are okay, and there's no obvious damage to the wiring, where should I be looking next?

If the fuses are intact and the wiring appears undamaged, the next step involves a methodical examination of the connector integrity and the motor itself. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the steering column motor and meticulously inspect the pins for corrosion, bending, or any other anomalies that might impede electrical conductivity. Also, using a multimeter, perform a continuity test on each wire within the harness to verify its integrity. Given the error code present, it may be prudent to consult a qualified automotive technician equipped with diagnostic equipment capable of interrogating the vehicle's CAN bus system. It sounds like it's going to be tricky to find the cause and it may be best to go to the workshop.

Thanks for the input! I took it to a local garage; they found a loose connection as suspected. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 206, although I can't recall the exact year. The symptoms you describe align with what I experienced. Before jumping to conclusions about a faulty cable or plug connection, have you checked the relevant fuses and relays associated with the electric steering system? A voltage drop or intermittent connection within the power supply circuit can mimic the behaviour of a faulty component. Furthermore, consider examining the condition of the wiring harness leading to the steering column motor for any signs of physical damage or corrosion.
