Peugeot 206 electronic parking brake failure
Summary of the thread
The electronic parking brake on a 2012 Peugeot 206 diesel has failed, with an error memory registering a fault and the warning light illuminated. The suspected cause is a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. A suggestion to check the brake switch was made, but ultimately, brake diagnostics confirmed the electric motor was indeed defective, leading to necessary repairs.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thank you for the reply! I did not check the brake switch, I'll give it a try. The error message is not very specific, unfortunately. Did replacing the brake switch solve your issue, or was there more to it?

No, the brake switch wasn't the culprit in my case. Sadly, I had to take it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed the electric motor in the calliper. Best to get brake diagnostics done.

Alright, I appreciate the insight! I'll schedule an appointment with a trusted mechanic for brake control diagnostics. Turns out you were right: the electric motor was defective. Repair cost me 505€. Thanks again!

I had a similar problem with my 206. Electronic handbrake went kaput, and the warning light was on. Did you check the brake switch? Sometimes it's just that. Is the error message specific or more generic?
