Peugeot 206 Engine Stalling After Fuel Filter Change
Summary of the thread
After changing the fuel filter on a 2001 diesel Peugeot 206, the engine began stalling at idle, and the check engine light turned on. This issue was suspected to be related to a fuel pressure problem, possibly due to an improperly seated filter or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Upon inspection by a mechanic, the fuel pressure regulator was found to be defective, likely due to the filter change, and was repaired.

Thanks. I think I seated the filter correctly, but I'll double-check. Where's the fuel pressure regulator located? Can I test it without special tools? No obvious misfires, but the engine struggles a bit at low RPMs.

The fuel pressure regulator is usually on the fuel rail. Precise testing needs diagnostic tools. Given the symptoms and filter change, the regulator is probably faulty, maybe from an error. Best to get it checked at a workshop to avoid more damage.

I double-checked the fuel filter, and it seemed fine, so I took it to a mechanic. The fuel pressure regulator was defective, likely from the filter change. Repair cost 45€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a fuel pressure issue, especially if it started after the fuel filter change. Was the filter seated properly and are all connections tight? Could be a bad fuel pressure regulator. Any misfires?
