Peugeot 206 Exhaust Flap Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Peugeot 206 owner reported issues with the exhaust flaps, including error codes, a louder exhaust, and noise during cold starts. The problem was identified as a likely issue with the flap actuator, which can become stuck due to carbon deposits and rust. The suggested solution was to check and possibly replace the actuator linkage and motor, which was confirmed by a professional repair costing 190€.

Thanks. Where's the actuator linkage, exactly? What does 'gunked up' look like? Any special tools or lubricants needed?

On my 206, it's where the exhaust manifold connects to the downpipe, kinda tucked away. A small metal arm connects the actuator motor to the flap valve. 'Gunked up' is carbon deposits and rust, making it hard to move. Wiggle it; if it's stuck, that's it. I took mine to a shop and it cost 190€ to replace. Worth it to avoid the headache.

Took it to a shop, just like you said. Defective exhaust flap, just like we thought. Cost me 190€. Thanks for the help!

I had something similar on my 206, though mine's newer. Loud exhaust and a code? Sounds like the flap actuator. Check the linkage to the flaps. They get gunked up or seize, making the motor work too hard and fail. Check the flap motor too.
