Peugeot 206 immobilizer problem
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Peugeot 206 diesel is experiencing an immobilizer problem, where the car cranks but won't start or starts and then dies. The diagnostic indicates an immobilizer fault, and the issue persists even with a spare key, suggesting the problem is not with the key itself. The solution involved taking the car to a mechanic, who confirmed the immobilizer issue and resolved it by reprogramming the key.

Thanks! I tried the spare already, same thing. Was your issue key programming, or something else?

Ah, right. Since the spare key didn't work either, I think it may be the immobilizer system itself. In the end, I took my car to a workshop as it was beyond my capabilities. It would be the easiest option for you, too.

Thanks for the help! Took it to a local mechanic, immobilizer issue confirmed. Reprogrammed the key and it's fixed. Cost 45€.

I had almost the same issue with my Peugeot 206. Though mine is a petrol version, it sounds very similar. My car would start, then cut out immediately. Have you tried the spare key? That might help to narrow down whether it's the key itself that's the problem.
