A leak in the master cylinder, you say? I haven't seen any warning light, but is there a way to confirm that without taking it apart?

No warning light doesn't mean it's not the master cylinder. It could be a minor leak. Either way, with those symptoms and mileage, get a proper brake inspection. Could be dangerous to drive like that. Probably time for a fluid replacement too, while they're at it.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Took it to the shop; turned out my worn brakes were causing the issue. Total repair cost was 480€. Appreciate the quick diagnosis!

Low brake fluid and strange pedal feel? Sounds like a brake system issue alright! When was the last time you had your brake system inspected? Could be something as simple as worn pads, or perhaps something more serious like a leak in the master cylinder.
