Peugeot 206 Overheating Engine Communication Error

My 2008 Peugeot 206 diesel has a check engine light and overheating engine. There's a coolant spill, suggesting excessive cooling system pressure. A scan showed a control unit communication error. Could this be a defective cable or plug connection?

I had similar issues with my 2012 Opel Astra: overheating and check engine light. It was a corroded wiring harness connected to the ECM. Check the wiring and connectors to the engine control unit for corrosion, damage, or loose connections. Check the ground connections too. What diagnostic trouble code are you getting?

The code is a generic communication error with the engine control module. Where was the corroded wiring harness in your Astra? Are there common failure points I should check on the 206?

In my Astra, the corroded harness was near the coolant reservoir. Coolant proximity and environmental exposure seemed to cause it. But vehicle designs vary. Since it's a communication error, I'd suggest taking your Peugeot to a workshop for a more accurate diagnosis.

Based on your advice, I took the car to a workshop. It was a connectivity issue, as suggested. The cable to the component was defective. Total repair cost was 95€.
