Peugeot 206 starting issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Peugeot 206 diesel with low mileage was experiencing starting difficulties, traced to a Terminal 30 continuous plus interruption. The suspected cause was a heavily discharged or defective battery. Suggestions included checking the fuse box, wiring harness, and starter motor for faults. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by replacing the defective battery, confirming it as the root cause.

The battery is original, so quite old. I haven't specifically checked the starter motor's current draw. Could a faulty starter really cause an intermittent Terminal 30 interruption, or would it manifest differently?

It's not a certainty, but a failing starter motor can sometimes cause voltage drops and unusual electrical behavior before it completely gives out. Given the age of your battery, I'd say get it tested professionally. You might be chasing a symptom rather than the root cause. I'd advise going to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. The workshop confirmed a defective battery, which was the root cause. Replacement cost was 290€. All sorted now.

I had a similar starting problem with my 206. Although, it wasn't exactly the same, it might be related to some electrical fault. Have you checked the starter motor? It could be drawing excessive current, especially if the battery is weak. How old is your battery?
