Peugeot 206 stiff steering and vibration
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Peugeot 206 diesel is experiencing stiff steering and steering wheel vibration, particularly at low speeds. The issue may be linked to a malfunctioning steering angle sensor, which can interfere with the electronic stability program (ESP). It is suggested to have the sensor checked and potentially replaced at a workshop to resolve the problem.

Yes, it's worse at low speeds. And yes, it has ESP. What exactly is the issue with the steering angle sensor?

From what I understand, the coding of the steering angle sensor can sometimes get messed up. This can cause the problems you're describing, as it interferes with the electronic stability program. If it is that, I would recommend taking it to a workshop to have it checked. In my case the sensor replacement cost me 195€.

Thanks for the help! I'll take it to a workshop and mention the steering angle sensor. Hopefully, that's the issue. That sounds like it might be it.

I had a similar problem with my Peugeot 206. Does it happen especially at low speeds, like when parking? If so, it could be related to the steering angle sensor. Is your car equipped with ESP?
