Peugeot 206 temperature sensor issues

I'm having a weird issue with my 2003 Peugeot 206 diesel. The outside temperature sensor seems to be on the fritz. I keep getting an error stored in the error memory. Because of this, the air conditioning won't switch on, the spray nozzles were frozen solid at cold temperatures, and even the mirror heating isn't working! Could this all really be because of this silly little sensor? I suspect it could be the cable or plug connection. Has anyone had similar problems? I'm fearing a hefty repair bill...

That sounds incredibly frustrating! The symptoms you're describing are interconnected. I experienced something comparable with my old Opel Astra. In my case, it was a faulty coolant temperature sensor messing with the engine management system, kind of like a domino effect. The sensor itself might be fine, but the wiring or connector could be the culprit. Definitely check those first before assuming you need a whole new sensor.

Thanks for the tip! That's good to know I'm not alone. When you say 'check the wiring', what exactly am I looking for? I'm not exactly a mechanic, more of a 'YouTube tutorial' kind of guy. Is there a common point of failure with these Peugeots that I should be aware of?

Well, in my case it was a corroded connector causing the issue. As for your Peugeot, I would suggest to take a good look at the sensor plug and its wiring for any signs of damage, corrosion or loose connections. If you can't find anything, best is to bring it to a workshop. As a wise man once said, sometimes you gotta know when to fold 'em, and electrical gremlins can be a real pain.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I had a mechanic take a look, and you were spot on! It was a corroded connector. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Everything is working fine now - AC, mirror heating, and even the spray nozzles! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
