Thanks for the reply! So, you think it's more likely a low oil level causing the sensor to freak out? Did you end up checking the oil level yourself, or did you take it somewhere? And how did you fix it?

In my case, the root cause was indeed a low gearbox oil level. Based on the symptoms you described, which mirror my experience, a visit to a qualified workshop for a thorough inspection is highly recommended. Given the complexities of modern automatic transmissions, DIY intervention may introduce further complications. An experienced technician can accurately assess the oil level, identify any leaks, and provide a definitive solution.

Took your advice and brought it to a local shop. Turns out I was losing transmission fluid. They topped it off, replaced some seals, and cleared the code. The invoice came to around 365€. Runs like a charm now! Thanks a bunch for the help, really appreciate it!

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your vehicle's transmission. I can appreciate the frustration that such problems can cause. I own a Peugeot 206, and I encountered a similar set of symptoms some time ago. The illumination of warning lights, coupled with erratic shifting behaviour, is certainly concerning. While the error code points to the transmission oil temperature sensor, it is possible that the sensor is indeed functioning correctly but is reporting an abnormal oil temperature, potentially due to low oil level or overheating.
