A transmission sensor? I hadn't thought of that specifically. Where is that located, and is it something I could fix myself? Or am I looking at a full-blown transmission repair?

Honestly, I'm no expert, but in my case, it turned out to be a control unit issue. It's probably best to take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and give you a quote.

Thanks! I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but you're probably right. I took it to a mechanic, and they confirmed it: defective control unit. Quoted me around 1000€ for the whole job. Ouch. Appreciate the advice!

Sounds rough! I had something similar with my old Opel Astra. The engine wouldn't start in park, and the gearbox was definitely not happy. Check engine light was on too. Is it possible that the transmission sensor is faulty?
