Peugeot 206 VANOS Solenoid Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Peugeot 206 diesel was experiencing issues with the check engine light and increased fuel consumption, suspected to be related to the inlet VANOS mechanics. The potential causes identified were a faulty camshaft solenoid valve or a power supply issue. After consulting with others who had similar experiences, it was confirmed that the problem was indeed a faulty VANOS solenoid. The issue was resolved by replacing the solenoid, which restored normal fuel consumption and cleared the check engine light.

Yeah, I checked the VANOS solenoid, or at least I tried. It's like trying to understand quantum physics! How did you figure out it was the VANOS for sure?

It’s definitely the VANOS. Just go to the workshop, the mechanics will check the timing chain, the VANOS solenoid and power supply. In my case it was the VANOS solenoid, and they fixed it immediately.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – faulty VANOS solenoid. Cost me around 250€, but at least the check engine light is gone, and the fuel consumption is back to normal. I appreciate the help!

Sounds like what happened with my 206. The check engine light was the first sign. I know it is a stupid question, but did you check the VANOS solenoid?
