I did not try wiggling the connectors, I will try this tomorrow. Are you confirming that you experienced similar audio/navigation failures and control unit unresponsiveness? Could you elaborate on the specific error codes you encountered and the steps you undertook to resolve them?

Absolutely confirming! The audio/navigation would just cut out, sometimes with a loud pop. I never got to the bottom of the error codes; I'm not as technically gifted as some, so I took it to a trusted workshop. The mechanics confirmed the diagnostic, and they traced it to a chafed CAN bus wire near the ECU. They replaced a section of the wiring loom. Best to get it checked before it gets worse!

I took the vehicle to a qualified workshop. Their diagnosis aligned with a defective cable connection to the BUS system affecting a control unit. The repair cost 155€.

I've had similar gremlins in my 207, though I never properly pinned down the root cause myself. The symptoms sound eerily familiar – the dashboard Christmas tree effect and the head unit occasionally taking a vacation. Have you tried wiggling any of the connectors behind the head unit or in the fuse box? Also, have you got the error codes the scan tool is chucking out? Knowing the codes would really help.
