Peugeot 207 electronic parking brake malfunction

Experiencing an issue with the electronic parking brake on my 2010 Peugeot 207, gasoline engine, with 237713 km. The electronic handbrake is non-functional, an error is stored, and the warning light is on. Diagnosis points towards a defective electric motor in the brake calliper. Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Saab 9-3. The electronic parking brake went haywire, displaying error messages and refusing to engage or disengage. Was a real pain. Did you check the brake sensor?

Could you elaborate on your experience with the Saab 9-3? Specifically, what was the root cause, and what troubleshooting steps did you take prior to resolving the problem?

Sure thing. Turned out to be the same thing: a faulty motor in the brake calliper. I tried checking fuses and connections but no luck. Eventually, I had to take it to a workshop. Given your symptoms and the error code, I would suggest you do the same. It’s a complex system.

Thank you for the insight. Confirmed the defective electric motor in the brake calliper, as suspected. Repair cost amounted to 505€. Issue resolved.
