Peugeot 207 gearbox slipping grinding

My 2013 Peugeot 207 diesel with nearly 300000 km has gearbox issues. The paddle shifters are unresponsive, gear changes feel like they're slipping, and there's a grinding noise sometimes. The paddles are also super slow to react. I'm pretty sure it's stuck in emergency mode. Reader shows an error stored. Any ideas? Thinking maybe the transmission control unit?

I had similar symptoms on my 207. It sounds like your suspicion about the control unit might be right. Defective control units are not uncommon when the gearbox starts acting erratically. Have you checked the diagnostic codes?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I pulled the codes, and it's pointing towards the transmission control unit being the culprit. Did you manage to sort it out yourself, or did you have to take it to a shop?

I had to take it to a workshop. It was indeed the control unit. It is tricky to diagnose without the proper tools. I recommend doing the same, as these symptoms can quickly make the car unusable.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I bit the bullet and took it to a shop. Turns out you were spot on – the control unit was indeed defective. Cost me about 1000€ to get it sorted, but at least it's running smoothly again.
