Peugeot 207 Limp Mode

I'm having a nightmare with my 2007 Peugeot 207 (gasoline engine). It's got about 191817 km on the clock, and recently it's gone into what I think is limp mode. The gear changes are really rough, like the gearbox is slipping or just not shifting cleanly. I've read online that it could be something to do with the ABS causing consequential faults and messing with the transfer case? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm dreading a huge repair bill!

I had similar issues with my 207. By 'transfer case limp mode' do you mean the powertrain malfunction indicator is active? I'm not sure about ABS involvement, but it sounds like your car is going into a 'limp home' mode to protect itself. This limits engine power and speed.

Yeah, the powertrain malfunction light is definitely on. When you say similar issues, did you also have the rough gear changes? And did your mechanic mention anything about the control module being involved?

Yes, the rough gear changes were the first sign of the problem. I recommend you take it to a workshop. It could be that the transfer case is not working, but the problem may be rooted in the control module.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop as you suggested. Apparently, there was a loose connection in the ABS system that was triggering the limp mode. They fixed it for free!
