Peugeot 207 Oil Temperature Sensor Fault

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2009 Peugeot 207, diesel. The speedometer shows a warning light, and the error memory has a fault for the engine oil temperature sensor. Also, the oil pressure light comes on sometimes. I think it might be a bad cable or plug to the sensor. Has anyone else seen this? Diagnostics point to the temp sensor. Mileage is 160936 km.

I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra, but it was the coolant temperature sensor. Same symptoms – warning light and error codes. Did you check the wiring harness for damage or corrosion?

Thanks! I looked at the wiring and plug, but didn't see anything obvious. Is there a certain spot or connector that usually fails on these sensors?

On my Astra, it was corrosion inside the connector, hard to see at first. But chasing electrical issues can be tough. If you're not comfortable with deeper checks, a workshop might be best.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a local mechanic. You were right, it was corrosion! They cleaned the connections, replaced a bit of wire, and cleared the codes. Total cost was 95€. Hopefully, that fixes it for good.

I have a Peugeot 207 SW, model year 2009. For some time now, I've been getting the message "Warning Engine Oil Pressure" on the display. Several specialist workshops haven't been able to explain it. An oil change with the correct engine oil didn't help either. The message keeps reappearing. In addition: the cylinder head gasket was replaced in 2015 at approximately 76,000 km. Find the fault, does anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance

Start by checking the oil pressure sensor itself, as it might be faulty or have a poor connection. Ensure the sensor is properly connected and inspect the wiring for any signs of damage or corrosion. If the sensor and wiring appear fine, it might be worth having the actual oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge to confirm if the pressure is indeed low or if it's a sensor issue. Since this is a safety-relevant issue, if you're unable to resolve it, I recommend having a professional mechanic take a closer look. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
