Peugeot 207 outside temperature sensor fault

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2015 Peugeot 207 diesel. The diagnostics are showing an outside temperature sensor fault. This seems to be affecting a few things: the AC won't kick in, the windscreen washer jets are freezing up quickly, and the heated mirrors aren't working. The car has 278443 km on the clock. I've checked the sensor and the wiring looks okay, but could be a defective cable. Anyone else had this issue?

Sounds familiar. I've got a 207 too and had similar symptoms a while back. The ambient temp sensor can cause all sorts of weirdness with the climate control and other systems. Have you checked the connector itself for corrosion or damage? It's a common weak point.

Yeah, I gave the connector a quick look, but I didn't examine it closely. Where exactly is the temp sensor located on your 207? Maybe I missed something obvious. I want to make sure I am checking the correct part.

It's usually located near the front bumper, often behind the grille. But honestly, chasing intermittent electrical gremlins can be a pain. Given the symptoms and mileage, you might be better off getting a workshop to check the wiring and the sensor with proper diagnostic tools. Could save you a lot of time and frustration.

Thanks for the advice. I think you're right, I'll take it to a workshop. The error code and the likely cause are known: cable or plug connection of the component defective. The estimated cost is 95€. Seems like the best approach.
