Peugeot 207 Start Stop Fault

My 2006 Peugeot 207 diesel's start-stop system isn't working. I have an error stored, the engine shuts off on its own, and there's a warning light. Could a deeply discharged or defective battery be the problem?

Sounds like classic battery behavior. Is the car struggling to start? Have you checked the battery's voltage? When was the battery last replaced?

It cranks a little slower, but nothing alarming. I haven't checked the voltage yet. I don't remember when the battery was last changed. Could a tired battery really cause those specific errors?

Modern systems are incredibly sensitive to voltage drops. The error code and start-stop malfunction are dead giveaways. Given the age and mileage, a new battery is very likely. You could try charging it, but it's probably on its way out. Get it tested before replacing it.

I had the battery diagnosed. It was heavily discharged and defective. Cost 290€ to get it sorted, but the errors are gone.
