Thanks! MOST bus fault sounds complicated. I don't have a fancy diagnostic tool, just a basic OBD reader, and it doesn't give me anything specific beyond a generic communication error. How can I tell which control unit is the problem? Is there a way to check without special tools?

Yeah, MOST bus issues can be a pain. Without proper diagnostics, finding the exact culprit is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Each module on that fiber optic loop relies on the others to send the data forward, so when one fails, none work. The bad news is you'll probably need to visit a workshop with the right tools to diagnose the control units. Based on my past experience, a MOST bus issue can easily set you back around 1000€. It's not always the cheapest thing to fix.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! I was hoping it was something simple, but it sounds like a trip to the shop is unavoidable. I'll book it in and hopefully, they can sort it out without too much trouble. They confirmed the MOST bus issue and replaced the faulty control unit. The whole repair ended up costing around 1000€, just like you predicted!

Sounds like a MOST bus fault. MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a fiber optic network that connects the audio system, navigation, and other control units. If one of those units fails, it can disrupt the entire bus, causing the symptoms you described. Do you have access to a diagnostic tool that can read out the specific error codes? That would help pinpoint the faulty module. Have you checked if any control unit got wet by any chance?
