Peugeot 208 Diesel (2015) with engine problems - advice and experience wanted

Hey guys, I need your help! My 2015 Peugeot 208 Diesel, now with approx. 185,367 KM on the clock, is showing a few quirks. There are longer cold starts, strange engine noises, a weak battery when starting, dimmed or flickering lights and a warning light in the speedometer. Do you know if it has anything to do with the "engine may not start"? Has anyone had this problem before and what was your experience with the mechanic? I've had really bad luck with my garage recently. Would be cool to hear some advice or experiences from you guys. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Peugeot 208 Diesel is experiencing longer cold starts, strange engine noises, a weak battery, dimmed or flickering lights, and a warning light on the speedometer. These issues may be linked to a faulty electrical system, potentially involving a broken battery and a problematic charging system. A similar case was resolved by replacing the battery and fixing the charging system, which restored the vehicle's performance. Seeking a competent mechanic for a quick check is advised to prevent further complications.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had similar problems with my 2012 Peugeot 208. The problem was a fault in the vehicle's electrical system. Had to take it to the mechanic and he said the battery was broken and the charging system also needed to be checked. They then replaced the battery and fixed the charging system. It took a while, but then it ran like a charm again. Of course, this can be serious, because if the electrical system is faulty, it can cause further problems. So it was a good decision to have it checked quickly. But don't worry, a competent workshop should be able to sort it out in no time at all. I hope this helps you!

Thanks for the input, buddy! Your experience sounds similar to mine. Just in case you remember, could you please let me know roughly how much it cost you? And did you have any problems afterwards or has everything been fine since? I want to be a bit prepared in case there are any other surprises in store for me. Thanks again!

No problem, buddy! Well, I was lucky, because since the visit to the mechanic, the "engine may not start" problem has been fixed, and it cost me absolutely nothing! It turned out that the fault was a secondary fault with the cars electrics and thanks to my warranty it cost me €0. As for the question about other problems, no, everything has been running smoothly since then. I hope this reassures you a little and helps you. Good luck, hopefully you're as unlucky as me!

Great, that's really good news! I'll go to the garage tomorrow and hope they take care of it as well as you did. Your info really makes me less worried, thanks for taking the time to reply! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it goes smoothly for me too. Thanks again!
