Peugeot 208 diesel power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Peugeot 208 diesel experienced power loss, a warning light, and acrid smoke at 83,771 km. The suspected cause was a defective exhaust back pressure sensor affecting the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). A workshop diagnosis confirmed the faulty sensor, and the issue was resolved with a repair costing 245€.

The symptoms are consistent. I don't have the tools to check fault codes and was hoping to avoid a garage diagnostic. Did your issue lead to DPF replacement, or was it something less?

I never checked the fault codes myself. The symptoms persisted, so I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was a faulty sensor related to the DPF. I'd suggest doing the same; it's difficult to say exactly what's wrong without a proper diagnosis.

A workshop visit was unavoidable. The diagnosis was a defective exhaust back pressure sensor, as suspected. The repair cost 245€, including parts and labor. Thanks for the help!

I also own a 208 diesel and had similar issues. Warning light, power loss... Does it happen often? It could be DPF related as you suspect, but there are other possibilities. Have you checked for any other fault codes?
