My 2012 Peugeot 208 diesel has a warning light, power loss, and acrid smoke at 83771 km. I suspect the DPF, specifically low exhaust pressure. Could it be a defective exhaust back pressure sensor? I'm worried about costs.

I also own a 208 diesel and had similar issues. Warning light, power loss... Does it happen often? It could be DPF related as you suspect, but there are other possibilities. Have you checked for any other fault codes?

The symptoms are consistent. I don't have the tools to check fault codes and was hoping to avoid a garage diagnostic. Did your issue lead to DPF replacement, or was it something less?

I never checked the fault codes myself. The symptoms persisted, so I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was a faulty sensor related to the DPF. I'd suggest doing the same; it's difficult to say exactly what's wrong without a proper diagnosis.
