Diagnostic steps? Not really done much yet, to be honest. Just the symptoms are pointing me towards the EGR valve. Where did you find the error, exactly? Anything I should check myself before taking it in?

In my case, the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) specifically pointed to the EGR valve being stuck open. A professional diagnostic scan will be able to identify the DTC accurately. Considering the mileage and symptoms, a blocked or defective EGR valve is a highly probable cause. I suggest consulting a qualified technician for a proper diagnosis and repair. Continuing to drive it in this condition can cause more damage.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The EGR valve was indeed jammed. Cost me 355€ to get it sorted, including parts and labor. Running much smoother now.

The symptoms you describe are consistent with a defective EGR valve. I encountered a similar issue with my previous Vauxhall Astra. The check engine light, reduced power, and rough running are telltale signs. What diagnostic steps have you undertaken so far to confirm your suspicion?
