Peugeot 208 Multifunction Steering Wheel Failure

Hi, I've got a 2014 Peugeot 208 (gasoline engine) with a frustrating issue. The multifunction steering wheel has stopped working entirely. No radio controls, no cruise control access, nothing. Vehicle diagnostics shows an error stored in the memory, but I can't pinpoint the exact cause. The car only has 13314 km. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Peugeot 208 experienced a complete failure of the multifunction steering wheel, affecting radio and cruise control functions. Diagnostics indicated a general malfunction, but the exact cause was unclear. A potential cause suggested was a defective cable connection within the steering wheel. It was recommended to consult a certified Peugeot workshop, where the issue was confirmed and resolved by repairing the cable connection.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Greetings. I recall facing a somewhat analogous predicament with my 208. Are you encountering any disruptions with the airbag system? The error may stem from a defective cable connection within the steering wheel.

Thanks for the quick reply! No airbag issues that I'm aware of. The error code is pretty vague, just points to a general malfunction. A defective cable connection inside the steering wheel sounds plausible, but is it easy enough to check myself, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

Given the potential complexities involving the steering wheel and integrated safety systems, my recommendation would be to seek counsel from a certified Peugeot workshop. They can ascertain the precise nature of the issue and execute repairs in accordance with established protocols.

Thanks, that's probably the wisest course of action. Took it to the workshop as suggested, and you were spot on! Defective cable connection in the steering wheel was indeed the culprit. Repair cost was 95€. Everything's working perfectly again.
