Peugeot 208 Oil Pressure Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Peugeot 208 with 158,359 km is experiencing an oil pressure warning light and mechanical noise from the engine. Possible causes include a faulty oil pressure sensor or a defect in the oil pump, with the latter being more likely due to the noise. The recommended solution is to stop driving immediately and have the vehicle inspected at a workshop to prevent further damage. The issue was confirmed to be a defective oil pump, which was repaired, preventing potential engine damage.

Thanks for the quick reply! No visible oil leakage that I can see. The last oil change was maybe 8000 km ago. I'm using 5W-30 oil. What did the oil pressure problem turn out to be with your 208? Those noises are really making me nervous.

Mine turned out to be a defect in the oil pump after similar symptoms. Those noises are likely engine bearings getting starved of oil. Seriously, I'd stop driving it immediately and get it to a workshop. It's not going to get better on its own, and you might cause irreparable damage.

Thanks a million for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was the oil pump! Repair cost me 755€, but at least the engine is still in one piece. I really appreciate the help; you saved me from making a costly mistake!

I had a similar scare with my 208. Low oil pressure can be nasty. Have you checked for any obvious oil leakage? When was the last oil change? It could also be a faulty oil pressure sensor, but the noises don't sound good. What oil viscosity are you using?
